Job Description:
Can prepare and conduct standard tests for respective area.
Operates all equipment in area correctly and safely and can instruct less experienced technicians, as needed.
Able to troubleshoot all testing equipment to a component level.
Uses lab scheduling & data storage software/systems.
Able to fabricate or modify parts or systems to match design directions.
Can break testing into tasks & direct others on those tasks.
Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of broader assignment.
Group Specific Reliability Lab Technician
Job Description:
This position will have direct, daily interface with our Engineering Staff (Design and Test).
Testing Technicians work in collaborative atmosphere with our engineering group, often creating testing improvements and engineering countermeasures.
General On Car Lab Description:
Understand the principles of and how to operate safely basic automotive dealership equipment such as tire mount / dismount machine, tire balancer, alignment machine, A/C evacuation and recharge machine and two post vehicle lifts.
Use hand and air tools to maintain and understand test degradation.
This also includes the use of digital torque wrenches, the ability to use them correctly and document the results.
Responsibilities:
Will include removing and installing vehicle components, complete sub-assemblies or entire vehicle disassembly / reassembly.
Maintain a valid driver's license and be able to complete various levels of drivers training.
This is required in order to be eligible to perform complete vehicle testing on TRC proving grounds.
Perform inspections on vehicle components/materials using aerosol penetrant and developer, digital cameras and Coordinate Measurement Machine (Faro arm).
Safely use various types of metalworking equipment (grinders, saws, plasma torch, mig/tig welders and lathe) to fabricate countermeasures, jigs, as well as general repairs.
Install strain gages of varying styles.
Produce high quality electrical connections involving solder and various connectors.
Attention to detail and the ability to work in awkward positions or confined spaces is important.
Requirements:
General computer skills are required in order to produce various documents using a spreadsheet or presentation software such as Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
These skills are also needed in order to operate testing data acquisition equipment such as the Somat eDAQ and Race Logic VBOX.
Manage equipment maintenance/calibration schedules and test parts inventory.
Maintain a high level of lab safety and housekeeping.
Other duties as assigned.
We move manpower as needed to facilitate keeping our schedules.
Work may be performed in a group or individually.
Motivation and trustworthiness are very important.
Education:
Must have 6
years closely related experience or related Associate Degree and 4
years' experience.
